about

In 1995, Liesbeth Beernaert graduates in Architecture from Luca School of Arts, Ghent. In addition, she achieves degrees in Painting at KASK, Antwerp (2001) and Fashion Design at SASK, Sint-Niklaas (2006).

She co-founds and organizes '100% maDAMe' in 2008 and 2009. During the series of events, which take place quarterly, befriended fashion designers sell their capsule collections in a homely setting. During '100% maDAMe', Liesbeth Beernaert reveals her first commercial women's collection and her designs of children's clothing.

Inspired by her children, she founds her design label 'Studio Bibette' in 2013 - Bibette being her nickname as a child. The brand mainly focuses on children's room accessories, including cushions, bags, tissue box covers and tote bags, and children's apparel. The original drawings of Studio Bibette, which feature fantasy creatures and animals, are printed digitally on fabric and all products are manufactured in Belgian ateliers.

Studio Bibette could be found in various shops and pop-ups in Antwerp and at multiple fairs. In 2016, the collection was selected for the 'Ik Koop Belgisch' campaign, organized by Juttu, Flanders Fashion Institute, and Design Flanders, to encourage consumers to buy Belgian products.

The artist takes a course in 'Surface Pattern Design' in 2018 and subsequently creates a lot of surface designs, mostly minimal, abstract, and bold. She also, once again, designs patterns that are aimed at children.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, she regains her love of painting and initiates a lot of projects, always using acrylic paint, in which her graphic and colorful signature is visible.

Her goal for the near future is to further develop her aesthetic in various art projects, including illustration, surface pattern design, home & interior objects and stationary & packaging.
