matchbox shapes, 2022

This collection of 24 symbols in black-and-white is inspired by small abstract paintings I created on matchboxes. Due to the size of the matchboxes, the symbols are reduced to essential shapes. Some of the color combinations appear out of the ordinary, but still, the colors find a way to complement each other, expressing playfulness and softness.

In digital color prints, the symbols are displayed in intensified colors, increasing the contrast between the symbols and their backgrounds.
